One session, written out

  1. Back squat 5 × 5

    100 kg · rest 2:30

The ring fills a set at a time. Tap it when the set is done and the rest clock starts itself. Weight and reps sit on pills underneath.

  2. AMRAP 12

    10 pull-ups · 15 kettlebell swings · 200 m run

The ring drains with the clock. Tap to log a round. No typing with chalked hands.

  3. Run 5 km

    for time

Same screen, same gesture. It lands in the same history as your squats.

The same session, as you train it

Every kind of training.
One screen.

A · work

The ring is the button.

Set one of five. The whole ring is the tap target, so you can hit it without looking for it. Reps and weight sit on the steppers underneath. Change them before you tap if the set went differently.

A · rest

Rest starts itself.

Tap the set done and the clock is already running. The ring turns green, so you know from across the gym that you are resting. Add or take off fifteen seconds with one tap.

A · work

Four down, one to go.

The arc shows how far through the block you are, and the line above it says which set this is.

B · work

Same screen, different clock.

An AMRAP drains the ring with the time cap, and the number in the middle is your rounds. Finish a round, tap once. No typing with chalk on your hands.

C · work

Then go and run.

A run gets the same ring, with the clock counting up. Run your five kilometres, tap when you are back, and the time is saved beside the distance. It lands in the same history as your squats.

After the last tap

Then the numbers, without the fuss.

Finish the run and the session adds itself up. Volume, distance and reps, how it compared with last time, anything that was a personal best, and every block with its total. Rate the session, add a note, done.

In this example: 54 minutes 26 seconds, 2500 kilograms of volume, 6200 metres, 60 reps, 100 kilograms more than last time, and four new personal records.

2500

Kilograms moved on Thursday. Counted for you.

Building it

Eight kinds of block. Any order.

A session is a list of blocks. Pick a type, choose the exercise, set the work and the rest, and add the next one. Warm-up sets sit apart from working sets and stay out of your volume. Save it as a template and it is there next Thursday.

Strength
Sets and reps of one exercise, with rest between sets
Interval
Timed work and rest, repeated for a set number of rounds
AMRAP
As many rounds as possible before the time cap
For Time
Finish the listed work as fast as you can
Circuit
A sequence of exercises done back to back, for rounds
Cardio
One steady effort, measured by time, distance or calories
Hold
A timed static hold, like a plank
Rest
A planned break between blocks

12:00

One time cap. As many rounds as you have in you.
